Duffy

Duffy

9/23/08

Duffy has really acclimated to the routine. Readily jumps in the car to run errands and is eager to show off his sit, down, stay, shake and knows how to ring the bells to be let out -- we didn't teach him this, he just watched foster brother Dodger. He's moved on to leave it, (but with such a food-motivated guy sometimes this one's hard). His response to a come command is a work in progress, but he's very quick to come to a whistle.

Duffy went to the dog park for the first time. As expected he made a friend with every dog there and charmed several owners too. He followed Dodger like, well, like a puppy!

Although he continues to be a mellow pup, as he gets more comfortable, we're seeing more age-appropriate playfulness. Duffy often brings a tug or squeaky ball to us or Dodger asking to play. Wrestle and chase continue to be his favorites, but I must say he adapts to what other dogs tell him they like. He's not a typical border collie mix, but does learn quickly and is a wonderful gentle soul.

Hi everyone, meet Dufffy, the gentlest 6 month old puppy you'll ever meet. Duffy was found as a stray and appears to be a mix between Border collie and a larger breed such as a lab or pointer. He's completely potty trained, crate trained and a totally lovable, polite house guest with a laid back temperament.

Duff's a true companion dog, meaning he's content with walks, games of tug, and just hanging out. He is starting to retrieve balls but hasn't shown interest in discs yet. He's so gentle with kids and people, and adores other dogs, especially ones who will wrestle. In fact, he would do very well in a house with other dogs, as he is a natural follower.

Duff's very motivated by training treats, so working with him is quite easy. His sit is reliable, he's learned down, is working on stay, comes to a whistle and is working on his good manners on a leash. Although, he's slightly reluctant to get in the car, he settles nicely once he's in.

He weighs 42 lbs., is 18 inches at the withers, has soft floppy ears, big soulful brown eyes, a handsome medium length coat and a sweet, happy, quiet disposition. You will fall in love with him!
