Jax

I have a video!

Our little guy has found his forever home and went there today!

After two meet and greets we were confident that Jax had found good companion's in both his new mom and her current pup. We could not have asked for a more caring home for him.

Jax was so self assured and happy to see his new mom when we met today, it was a great adoption. We look forward to hearing about his progress in his home.

Jax has touched many of our hearts here at MBCR and we are all excited to see him begin his new life with his permanent home.

Congratulations to Jax!!!

Hello this is Jax. My foster mom said I should tell everyone about my new most favorite game, "hide and seek" - with a treat. My foster mamma hides a treat under a plastic container...she puts out three containers so I have to use my nose to find the one with the treat under it - I can't cheat and see the treat!

My foster mom says I am already an "expert" at this game, must be the spaniel side of me, I like to use my sniffer whenever possible!

I think she said something about me probably liking to do something called "tracking"...I donno as always I just like to do anything for my person which gets me positive attention!!!

I am still enjoying my new foster home and like to play with the other dogs in the house, but have gotten a bit too intense with the youngest dog once or twice and had to take a "time out" - this is what my foster mom calls going to my crate for a few minutes to settle. Once I take a couple minutes to settle I come out happy as can be and we all get along again....it's really fun in the house with the other dogs. I often take a nap on the floor after a good playtime...

I also started going over small agility jumps and going through a thing called a tunnel...it's fun....cause I get my tennis ball after I do these things.

I am starting to understand that jumping up on my people gets me no attention and I try to instead walk next to them so that I can get pats and praise....but it's really hard to not get excited when I see my people!

Oh yeah, I got to play with a new dog the other day...a 16 year old Jack Russell, I thought about chasing her for a minute but the Jack Russell told me only once to back off and I went to play fetch with my foster mom instead....she was really cool though and I liked walking next to her, she really seemed to know her stuff, I like seeing older dogs and how they hang out.

Okay, well remember that nap time after play I talked about...I am headed for the coolness of the wood floor and gonna go plop down since we just came in from playing my new "hide and seek" game...whew work helps me relax.

Talk to everyone later....

Hi this is Jax here with an update, this time my new foster mom decided she would write the update….I’m busy chewing on a bone….

Jax has been with us for about a week now, I have to say this little guy causes everyone who sees him to smile! He is an energetic ball of joy. We have noticed that Jax can be a bit pushy about his wants – for example barking for his ball if we don’t throw it exactly when he wants us to : -) However this is being worked on and he is a great student!

Jax has settled in nicely with our other three dogs, and loves having a playmate. Our dogs are well socialized and able to tell him when enough is enough and we think this is important for him, otherwise he may get a little too rough in his play.

We have been adding to Jax’s training this week currently he knows: Sit, Wait, Okay, Down, Off, Drop It, Crate, Tug, Jax (His Name – which means look at handler), Come, and Opps (means something he is doing is not okay or wrong behavior).

What we are working on further: Settle, Side, Heal, Leave It, Quiet, Touch, Go On (means you can walk ahead of me), Target and Jump (agility jumps).

Jax is a very quick study, as he really wants to make his person happy!

We really feel Jax would do best in an active home, with a fenced yard. He would love to go on daily hikes with his person and would love continuing to learn more positive behaviors. Jax will need someone to understand when too much pressure is to much as he really wants to please and can get worried if pushed too hard in training.

Overall, Jax is a great little guy who really deserves a nice forever home to call his own; he also really enjoys belly rubs and cuddles…a very happy pup.

If you think Jax sounds like a companion for you please email us (below) or complete an online application.

JaxHi all!

Well I have moved to a new foster home with two new foster parents and three big brothers (Oliver – Border Collie, Dabner – Mixed breed and Bobby – Beagle Mix), I like my three big brothers and they like to play with me too….but they tell me when enough is enough because I guess I am always wanting to play…..my foster mamma says my brothers telling me to settle is a good thing….I don't mind it much either because otherwise I probably would never leave them along and relax – "settle" is the word my foster parents say when it is time to relax on my bed and chew a nylabone or take a nap…my choice!

Anyway, I have to tell you about my day today – we went to this big place (I was very good in the car my mamma says – yeah it makes me soooo happy to please her!!!) and the people kept saying were going to go to "agility", I donno what this means but my big brothers were happy to be going and I was happy to do anything fun with my foster mamma, so it was great.

I continue to work on the manners that my first foster mamma taught me and also have started to do this thing called "heal" and "side" – I think it means walk next to my person on the left (heal) or right (side), I still like to come to front when we stop so I am working on this more mamma says….

Next week my people tell me we are going to work on some foundation stuff for agility, we'll see if I like this agility thing…my foster brothers seem to love when they go in the side yard to play agility.

My foster mom says to tell you that I will need a fenced yard at my forever home and I will need something to keep me thinking, like Rally or agility. I also think I would love a playmate, but they would need to be able to tell me when we should relax, otherwise I might get to pushy with them – cause I want to play, play, play!

Well bye for now, maybe I'll let you know what I think of this "agility" thing once we get going on my training….

We have "SNOW" and it is sooooooo much fun. We ran and slid and just had lots of fun. One of my foster sisters and I made big snowballs by rolling our balls in the wet snow and they got bigger and bigger. I love snow!!!!! You can see how much fun we had in the pictures.

I've learned some new things too. I now know how to sit and "wait" until it is "ok" to eat or go out the door.

I’m a big boy now (still only about 16” and 22 lbs) but I still look like a puppy or so everyone tells me.  I have a few manners now but I still want to jump up on people but if you hold your hand out I won’t jump on you.  I still love chew toys and love to play fetch.  I do love to work and make great eye contact with whoever is working with me so I could learn to do agility as I am very agile or I could do Rally Obedience.  I look like a border collie, just with longer floppy ears, so you could get an ILP on me.  I much prefer a ball over a Frisbee so if you are looking for a Frisbee dog it would not be me.

Naughty by Nature side of me:

I’m just a fun loving little guy but if you have cats I will chase them and if you have other little critters like rabbits, birds, etc the spaniel comes out in me and the prey drive comes out in me and I will chase them and eat them so no little critters in the house if you are interested in me.  I really have to have a fenced in yard because I would chase the rabbits or squirrels that came in the yard and when they ran I would go chase them even across the street.  And no farm with chickens or ducks either.
I do love to play with other dogs but if you have a submissive dog I will turn into a little “bully”.  Size doesn’t matter as I do get along fine and have lots of fun with my “foster” brother (he’s a 10 lb Mini Aussie) and we play tag and tug and we play chase with one of my “foster” sisters Ping. She is really fast and we do our best to keep up with her when she runs.  Sometimes we takes cuts to catch up with her.   I have 2 “foster sisters” and I play some with them when they want to but they can be “bossy” so I have to play their way.

I'm now 10 months old but I haven't gotten any bigger. I still look like a puppy and I love to play, play, play. I am great with my foster sisters and little foster brother but I do sometimes have a problem if I am on lead and a bigger male dog comes up to me. I just want to show him that I am just as big as he is but it gets me into trouble all the time. I would also like to have the bunnies & squirrels that come in the yard for breakfast but Mamma does not want me to do that.

I love to have someone toss the ball and I will bring it back to you most of the time. I'm really good in my crate and have learned to wait to eat when my food bowl is put down until I am told it is ok. I watch real close until Mamma points her finger at me and say "OK". Sometimes it takes a looong time and I am hungry but if I start to eat before she tells me it is ok she will take it away and then set it back down and I have to wait again.

I went to flyball again this past weekend and it is always fun because everyone still thinks I am just the cutest puppy ever. People come up to my crate and talk to me and give me treats and then open my crate door and I give them kisses and everyone says what a good boy I am because I do not try to jump out of my crate when they open the door. I got to go in a river too. I was having lots of fun splashing around and then someone came and threw a tennis ball in for their border collie and I jumped for it and I went under the water and I had to SWIM. I started to get the ball but then I thought I better get back where I could touch the ground. Don't tell anyone but it was real scary……I had never been in the water over my head before. I was careful not to try to chase the tennis balls in the water again.

I'm still waiting for my forever home. I really need a home with a fenced yard and someone that is willing to take me to obedience classes and play with me a lot. I would like to have another dog in the house because I love to play with the dogs at my foster home and I would probably be lonely without a playmate.

Hi again let me tell you about where I live and who lives here. There is the big Mama who loves all of us but doesn’t let us get away with much. She goes away 4 days a week to somewhere called “work” and we have to stay in our kennel while she is gone cuz she says we would get into to much stuff if she left us loose in the house. She’s probably means me and that I would chew up stuff because when she catches me with something I am having fun chewing on, like something out of the laundry or a washcloth out of the bathroom, she takes it away from me but then she gives me a nylabone or a toy to play with and she says “It’s a good thing that I’m the cutest puppy ever or she might have to get mad at me”. I don’t mind staying the kennel. It has a nice soft bed and Mama gives me treats when I go in and she also give me chew toys and nylabones so that I have something to do. Everyone else stays in their kennel too but I can see them all so I am not alone. She says I am a very good boy in the kennel. When she gets home from "work" we all go out in the yard and play and just have lots of fun.

I have 2 foster sisters, Jolea and Ping, and they are big girls and are flyball champs, whatever that is but it must be fun because they like it and get really excited when anyone says "flyball". I’m going to get to go to a flyball tournament this weekend so I will get to see what all the excitement is all about. Mama has a van with lots of doggy kennels in it and just front seats. We each have our own which she says is to keep us safe in case of an accident. Then there is my foster brother, Zoomer, and I really like to play with him. He is smaller than I am but he is not a puppy just a little dog but he thinks he is a BIG guy. He loves to chase Ping when she runs her laps in the yard. I usually play tug with Jolea. She is a nice sister but can be really bossy. But if someone else picks on me she will stand up for me cuz I’m a cute puppy and she likes me.

Tomorrow we go on our trip for the girls to play flyball so it is really busy tonight getting everything ready. Well I’m just following around but I look busy.

If you are looking for a puppy that is soooooooo cute then I would be the one. I love everybody and everybody love me.
I’ll give an update when we get back from the weekend!!! Maybe I will meet someone and they will fall in love with the "cute puppy" and want to take me home with them. I just hope that whatever home I get is as much fun as this one and that there will be as much love as I get here and I have to share Mama's love with 3 others.

HI my name is Jax and I am just the cutest puppy. When I was taken into rescue they said I was 12 weeks old. That would make my birthday 01-04-08. My foster Mom thinks I am a little older than that but I don't care what day it is I just want everyone to remember my birthday and give me presents. Nobody knows why I was given up as a puppy because I am just the cutest puppy ever. They say I am a bc mix. I don't know what a mix is but I KNOW I am a bc. Everyone says his ears are too big and his body is too long to be a bc but I keep telling them I AM a bc. I have fun herding the other dogs and I love to go chase the ball and bring it back. I get into everything but I am sooooooooo cute!! They say I am almost housetrained and I think that means I don't pee in the house hardly at all but I do still have an accident sometimes. But I am sooooooooo cute!! I am good in the crate and I love to go for car rides. I chase frisbees that roll on the ground.

I really love my foster home but I need a home of my own as they say I can't stay here forever and that someone will adopt me and love me forever. Now that's what I want more than anything. If I can't stay at my foster home I want a special home just for me. Maybe another dog or 2 to play with. Cats are ok too but I will herd them sometimes. I will need to have a lot of things to do or I will get bored and be naughty.
