JJ

An adopted Border Collie

Oh, my – we LOVE our dog JJ!

an adopted border collieWe took in a stray border collie who died tragically in early summer 2006. Soon thereafter, we started the search for a rescue dog who could brighten our days and be the recipient of our love. We found JJ on the MidAmerica site and started the adoption process. He was in the care of a foster family in Indiana and we live in Minnesota so the distance was a bit of an issue. Fortunately all of the details worked out and we picked up JJ that August.

When we got his papers we realized that JJ was born on the very same day our stray arrived on our doorstep. What are the odds?

JJ has brought so much joy and love to our lives. He is so alert, intuitive and hungry to please. He has a surprisingly low prey instinct and has every intention to “get those squirrels” only to wonder where they go when he chases them. (He still hasn’t realized that they climb trees…) He loves to play Frisbee and has gotten very adept at it.

When he first arrived he didn’t know quite what to do in our tall grass prairie. He walked gingerly through, looking for the clearest path. Now he runs through it like he was born there. We often crouch and hide from him and he tears back to find us. He is so very playful.
