Dave,

An adopted Border Collie

Hi, Pete the Border Collie here. I found my forever family a year ago and have I ever been busy. Well, I'm a pretty busy Border Collie all the time but I mean busy traveling. I moved to my new home in Three Rivers, MI, and was there just long enough to get used to my new yard (and get into just a little bit of trouble) and then I moved to this great cottage on Lake Huron in the upper peninsula. I spent most of the summer swimming and chasing tennis balls. I also discovered a great way to exercise was to jump high in the tall weeds. I would jump and jump and jump. Once in a while I would scare up a cricket and give it a good chase. While I was jumping, of course.

Just when I thought summer was what life was all about all of us packed up and went back to Three Rivers for a few weeks. The next thing I know we were all loaded into a 30-foot trailer and wonders of wonders we spent a couple of weeks traveling to Arizona. Can you imagine two whole weeks in a truck? All those cars!! It was simply wonderful. Once we got to Arizona I discovered another whole new way of life. We were in a campground with miles and miles of hiking trails and sometimes there were horse to talk to. Whoa, those horses were pretty scary at first. But once they got to know me we all got along.

The best part of life in the campground was all the dogs who wanted to play with me. I stayed there all winter but the dogs seemed to come and go all the time. It became my job to walk around and talk to them and play if they wanted to. I even had a couple of girlfriends for a while. Marcy was a bit older than me but boy oh boy could she play. I also liked Lilly a lot. Lilly was quite young and really into playing too. For part of the time Marcy and Lilly were staying there at the same time. They kept me busy and tired. I mean really tired. I just got an email from Marcy yesterday and she said she was coming to visit me at the cottage on Lake Huron sometime in July. I can hardly wait to see her again.

An Adopted Border Collie

After a year of living with my new people I think I have finally figured things out. We will live summers in Michigan and winters in Arizona. And that's about all I've figured out. Sometimes I like to walk nicely on a leash. But running and zigzagging across trails is much more fun. And jumping on people is so much fun that in my excitement I often forget that I'm not supposed to do that and I leap up. When I'm running and see someone I like, I just love to run really really fast and leap up just in front of their head. Usually this seems to surprise people, but I'm just trying to say "hello/goodbye" all in one quick leap.

Thanks for reading about me.
