After almost a month in her forever home, Tehya (Panda) is settling right in. She was a little timid during the first two weeks as may be expected and stayed as close as she could to both Sue and I. She is now blossoming daily and her personality is really starting to show. During the early days she was hesitant to initiate play but now will eagerly start a toy toss, ask to go to the park and play, or what is becoming one of the favorites, cars rides so she can watch as the cars fly by in the faster lanes.
Her first few evenings were spent sleeping for a short time on the bed, but then retired under the bed. The routine has changed a little as she now prefers her crate for the majority of the night after watching the news with us on the bed. Each day she now has a job to help with, which is going with to the mail box to pick up the paper and mail. It has become a task she eagerly looks forward to each day.
Tehya is making great progress with her daily lessons. Recall was the main focus at first and she has progressed to the point that she will stop in her tracks at the dog park while playing with other dogs and come at a full run when called. She falters occasionally but is getting better daily. Other basics are also coming along. She will start obedience school in about a week we hope to get her into Agility intro early in the year to see if that may be something she will like to do.
