I found her in spring 2005. You could feel every bone on her frame, her feet were raw and she was missing a good deal of hair from itching. She was very traumatized by whatever she had gone through before I found her. Thanks to MBCR I fostered her and got her some vet care that was sorely needed.
She was briefly adopted by a wonderful family, unfortunately Scooter's trauma and fear of men was too serious and she returned to foster care and to our home-which then became HER home (who was I kidding?).
She has been with us for almost two years, and as you can see she is a beautiful girl. Her coat is thick for the winter. She loves her dog sister, Shiloh and being part of our pack. They love wrestling and chasing and playing tug of war. They will commandeer the living room couch and snuggle up to snooze.
Although she still is very anxious about strangers coming into the home, she continues to make progress, and doesn't dash from the room as she used to do. She still takes a lot of cues from Shiloh and since Shiloh has never met a stranger, Scoots is learning that not everyone is 'the boogey man'.
Watching her greet my son coming in from school, petting her when she assumes her spot on the bed as I drift off to sleep at night..We just couldn't imagine life without her.
